Since early childhood, George has had a passionate interest in the traditional skills and heritage of woodcarving. George studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Loughborough University followed by a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Newcastle University, where he gained a deeper knowledge of professional practice and art history, whilst continuing to develop his practical abilities.

In tandem to his academic achievements, George received extensive training from conducting regular work experience with professional master woodcarver Glyn Mould. Additionally, George completed a craft apprenticeship from the Worshipful Company of Joiners and Ceilers of the City of London and has been honoured with the Freedom of the Company.

George’s work is regularly exhibited and has been collected internationally. His rigorous application of time-honoured methods and enthusiasm for the creative process which underpins every carving, has lead to a wide variety of commissions from conservation projects, to pieces of contemporary sculpture.
